Dagmar Havlová to play in a new piece staged by Divadlo na Vinohradech

On Friday 16 September Divadlo na Vinohradech premiered a play by Gabriela Preissová Její pastorkyňa, in which Dagmar Havlová performed a very demanding and psychologically elaborate role of a widow, Petrona Buryja, nicknamed Kostelnička. The magnum opus of the Czech realism addressing the theme of a conflict between social prejudices and human passion has the magnitude of a classical tragedy. ‘Její pastorkyňa’ also came to fame thanks to an operatic version by Leoš Janáček under the title ‘Jenůfa’. The production at Divadlo na Vinohradech was directed by Martin Františák. The performance was followed by prolonged standing applause.
